A grand staircase spiraling toward heaven
Fierce billows of air thrashing from the thunderhead
Everyday is an uncertain step toward a year
Though all of humanity must climb to meet Death
The climb devours youth and gives wisdom
Over the rail, jumpers eternally fall
Soon the thunderhead will be upon us
Awaiting us is a black cloak
That moves mountains and crushes empires
A whisper of an idea that has been in existence
Before the beginning of time, prepared for humanity
Blinded by what awaits them, they climb aimlessly
Focused on one thing; none seeing; none feeling
Fools trudged onward and fear the inevitable
Never once, do they stop and enjoy the view from up here
